Friends of Blackwater created three major programs that expand on our land, water, and wildlife protection work.  A heritage program, the JR Clifford Project celebrates the life and legacy of JR Clifford, West Virginia’s first African American Attorney, whose famous 1898 civil rights case insured equal schooling for “colored children” in the state. The North Fork Watershed Project focuses on improving water quality in the Blackwater watershed.  Our Monongahela National Forest Watchdog campaign monitors Endangered & Threatened Species as well as proposed actions, such as timber projects on the Monongahela National Forest.

Recently added was the Guide to Keep Fracking from Damaging Our Eastern National Forests. This web-based guide provides citizens with the tools necessary to monitor and protest gas drilling projects on National Forests in the Eastern United States.
