Friends of Blackwater is hosting a second heritage clean up this fall at the Coketon Roundhouse on September 14th at 10 am. Located right off of the Rail Trail near Snyder Run, the roundhouse used to be the primary engine maintenance site in the area around the turn of the century. The building itself has long since collapsed and been removed, but the foundation remains.
Meet at the Buxton and Landstreet building at 571 Douglas Road, Thomas, WV at 10 am and join FOB staff and volunteers in clearing brush and weeds from around the roundhouse. We’ll also be working on adding new historical signage along the Rail Trail nearby. Wear good yard work clothes and bring your favorite pair of clippers, weed whacker, or whatever tools may come in handy.
