Friends of Blackwater is excited to announce that we will be adding to our water quality monitoring program, with help from the North Face. The new grant we have received from the North Face will help us purchase 8 automated sensors, that will collect continuous data on local waterways. This will provide much more detailed data that monthly monitoring, which will allow us to create watershed improvement plans with more precision.
This project also has an educational component. Students will get involved with installing, calibrating, and collecting data from the sensors, which will provide a good hands-on supplement to their STEM studies. We will be sharing more details on this project once implementation starts, so check back to this site for updates!
