Disappointing News! Pillar Injection Well Permit Approved

White with Orange Lines and Photo Men’s Fashion Facebook Post

Friends of Blackwater is disappointed to inform you that the Pillar LLC permit for the undergound injection well next to Horseshoe Run has been reissued for an additional 5 years.

Thank you for  your participation in the fight to stop this permit in its tracks- over 50 people attended the public hearing for this permit, over 32 individuals submitted official comments, including over 15 at the public hearing, and 1810 supporters like you signed the a petition objecting to this harmful underground well waste disposal.

Voices of Horseshoe Run- a booklet and campaign created with the help of individuals who testified at the public hearing, presents moving citizen testimonies of historic significance, beauty, wildlife, recreation, and economic value of Horseshoe Run, a tributary of the Cheat River. Now, FOB is adopting the role of “watchdog”- as the Eyes of Horseshoe Run.  Join us in monitoring this site for spills at or around the well or on Horseshoe Run Road or in the stream. That way we can hold Pillar and the WV DEP Office of Oil and Gas accountable.  Send information/photos to: outreach@saveblackwater.org with the subject line: Pillar Well. (Do not trespass!)

You can find a copy of Voices of Horseshoe Run here.
