Northern Long-Eared Bat
Myotis septentrionalis
Northern long-eared bats are named so due to their long ears compared to other bats in their genus. They only reach an average of 3.4 inches in length. Their populations are decreasing due to the human-spread white-nosed syndrome disease. These bats were recently up-listed to endangered status due to this disease. They can be found inhabiting mixed hardwood forests and roost inside hardwood trees.
